Swanston Street Gone from Google Maps

Poor ol' Swanston Street in Melbourne has vanished off Google Maps. Swanston Street is no longer a thoroughfare for normal traffic, only being used by trams, delivery vehicles and emergency vehicles. But having said that, it is also used by pedestrians, cyclist, rubbish collection vehicles, buses (tour), so why remove it from the map? According to Wikipedia, Swanston … [Read more...] about Swanston Street Gone from Google Maps

Geoffrey Edelsten | Man in the Mirror

One has to be careful when pointing the finger at Geoffrey Edelsten.  This slippery little man has been on journalists radars for many years since he first came to prominence with his medical centres and association with the Sydney Swans. He was deregistered in New South Wales in 1988, and later in Victoria.  In 1990, he was jailed for perverting the course of justice, so … [Read more...] about Geoffrey Edelsten | Man in the Mirror

EYEfi with my little APP

Besides the fact that EYEfi is a very clever business name, specially considering what they do, even better, EYEfi are based in Melbourne Australia. We always have a giggle when we read about what a company does, but don't have a clue what it is or what they do.  EYEfi is a bit like that, in that their header says they are a Spatial Video Service Provider.  We don't have a … [Read more...] about EYEfi with my little APP

Melbourne Festival Art Trams

Melbourne trams featuring art from the 70's, 80's and 90's will make an appearance in this year's Melbourne Festival in October. Hopping on a Howard Arkley, pulling the bell on a Mirka Mora or leaping from a Michael Leunig were the stuff of everyday life for Melbourne’s tram travellers from the late 1970s to the early ’90s. ‘‘Art trams’’ were introduced by the then … [Read more...] about Melbourne Festival Art Trams

Phone Coverage in Melbourne City Loop

What wonderful news...  within a year we'll have full mobile telephone coverage in the Melbourne underground loop. Travellers on Melbourne's City Loop will finally get mobile phone hook-up after deal to eliminate "dead zones". Since day one, the loop has not had coverage and any calls we're on as the train enters the tunnel simply cuts out.  But that is all about to … [Read more...] about Phone Coverage in Melbourne City Loop

All Rise For The Mare

We do love a clever headline, and this fits the bill perfectly.. All rise for the mayor, a clever play on words, as in All rise for the MAYOR.. Following another fantastic run and win by Black Caviar. This run and win at Flemington in the Black Caviar Lightning Day Stakes is 23 consecutive WINS (no losses). Not bad for a mare from Melbourne? Thank you TheAge All … [Read more...] about All Rise For The Mare
