We do love a Melbourne Magazine, even better when the magazine is both printed and online..

Enter the (melbourne) magazine

the (melbourne) magazine has appeared monthly in TheAge for a few years now, usually around the end of the month which we would read on our iPad.  So, we were delighted to spot it is now available online on their own web site: www.themelbournemag.com

Firstly, go and sign up for the monthly reminder.. its free!

Looking closer, it looks like the web site has been there for a while but somehow we missed it.  In terms of software, they use a WordPress back-end which makes for a very easy to navigate and good looking web site.

It is not the entire magazine found in the printed or iPad versions missing the ‘featured’ articles like this months, Why We Love Winter (which Melburnian’s do) but all the regulars are there.. OUR CITY, EAT/DRINK, FASHION, HOMES, FITNESS, COMPETITION.

Funnily enough, this morning the web site has not been updated to include this months articles.. i spy – Whisky Business but we’re sure they will update it shortly and let us know.  We did miss other regular contributors.. Ian Rose and his Tree Change, Marieke Hardy’s My Melbourne (which is never written in Melbourne), and most definitely the(melbourne)quiz (always a good read).

Look, we’re biased, we really enjoy reading the printed/ipad version which is clearly written in Melbourne, by Melburnian’s for Melburnians.  The web version isn’t all of it but its a damn good teaser and a good reason why you should sign up for the paid iPad App version of TheAge.

UPDATE

Its a sad day when you read about the demise of a favourite.

Here is the eds last hurrah.. October 2013

Welcome to the first issue of the rest of our lives. Yes, this is the final issue of the(melbourne)magazine: number 108 and no longer counting. It’s a sad time but it has been a great run. In these pages we’ve met amazing people, discovered hidden gems, eaten very well and fallen a little more in love with this town every single month. There are, of course, far too many people to acknowledge individually, but we want to thank former editors Angus Holland and Sally Robinson for setting the bar so high, and our wonderful contributors, columnists, photographers and stylists. We are grateful to the advertisers and sponsors who’ve supported the magazine and the staff who have built those relationships.

We’d like to thank our publishers and editors for the opportunity to work on a dream project. We are so proud of the team that works on the magazine – they push every single idea to its most magnificent incarnation, tweaking every word and every image towards perfection. They are intensely talented and dedicated and we can’t wait to see what they do next.

Finally, we thank you, dear readers. You’ve told us how much you love the magazine and described for us the moments of inspiration, joy, pride in our city, and, occasionally, exasperation it has given you.

Fittingly, our last cover story is about a guy who’s just beginning – cricketer Ashton Agar beams from the page, full of promise. Elsewhere: Ian Rose finally gets a rest, Felicity Lewis gets an education and John Safran takes our quiz. We’ve got hot food, fitness ideas and new trends in sunglasses and shoes as summer approaches.

For the last time, enjoy.

Clare and Lucy
